To the JSC Community:

Please join me for an All-Hands meeting on Wednesday, August 13th at 10:00 am in the Teague Auditorium.  I will update you on recent developments with respect to our JSC Transformation.   In advance of that meeting, I am pleased to announce the new Directors for the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) and the Exploration Integration and Science (EIS) Directorate.

For the FOD position, I've selected Brian Kelly (BK).  BK has experience spanning multiple organizations across JSC in which he has demonstrated an ability to lead strategically and build coalitions.  Throughout his 24 year NASA career, he's served in variety of leadership roles.  Since 2010, BK has been Deputy Director for FCOD, leading along with the director a diverse civil service workforce of 160 scientists, aviators, and engineers and 300 contractors; prior to that, he was the Associate Director of FCOD.  He has also held leadership positions in the ISS program, including Manager of the External Integration Office, and in Shuttle and Station Independent Assurance, NASA HQ (located at JSC).

For the EIS position, I've selected Steve Stich.  Steve is an effective leader who has also held a variety of leadership roles across JSC throughout his 27 year career at NASA.  He's currently serving as the Deputy Director for Engineering, leading along with the director over 870 civil servants and 1400 contractors. Prior to this role, he was the Associate Director for Commercial Space Flight in the Engineering Directorate, the JSC Manager for Advanced Exploration Systems, and Deputy Director of White Sands Test Facility. He also served as Manager and Deputy Manager for the Orbiter Project Office, and was both a flight controller and Ascent/Entry and Orbit Flight Director in MOD.  He has most recently led the crewed segment of the Asteroid Redirect Mission and been instrumental in developing an affordable agency exploration strategy, demonstrating an ability to build coalitions across multiple organizations.

Please join me in welcoming and supporting BK and Steve in their new roles, as they lead these two complex organizations through the upcoming mergers, moving toward a JSC that is more lean, agile and adaptive to change.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning.

Ellen
