Subject: We now see what Mike Lee saw

Dear Fellow Patriot,

When President Obama rewrote the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) on July 2nd of this year, granting waivers to big businesses and to members of Congress, Senator Mike Lee raised his voice and told the American people they had better look closer.  He said the law was unaffordable, unworkable, unsustainable and unfair.  He also said this:

"This is our last best chance to stop this law before it begins to wreak havoc on the American people and the economy…"

Senator Lee's proposed course of action was simple: if President Obama himself refuses to follow the law, acknowledging that Obamacare wasn't ready for implementation, then Congress shouldn't fund it. At a minimum, Senator Lee insisted, funding for Obamacare should be debated and discussed on its own merits, and not on the merits of defense spending, benefits for veterans, funding for the national parks, and other longstanding, non-controversial government programs.

A few people started to look more closely.  Unfortunately, many were led by the media to chase "shiny objects" and look in all the wrong places. Most of the country was chasing but never stopping to see what was really going on.

That, of course, is exactly what President Obama and his allies wanted.  They created a focus on things like a potential and ominous shutdown, a false but horrific suggestion America would default on the national debt, countless speeches by the President, intra-party infighting (in public and in private), and of course the vilification of Senator Lee as the problem.

Help Senator Lee shine a spotlight on the real problems in Washington by contributing to his campaign today!

All of the chasing of shiny objects kept many Americans and most politicians a safe distance from actually dealing with the disaster that was about to begin.

Someone once said that the ability to see ahead and the courage to proclaim what you saw is both a blessing and a burden.  I think that describes Senator Mike Lee. With Obamacare he could clearly see what was coming and then, despite opposition, ridicule and attack, he boldly declared what he saw to the American people.

The Senator deserves respect and praise for what he did, and how he did it.  He stood up for Utahns and all Americans by refusing to just accept the inevitability of a fatally flawed law. He continually praised the House of Representatives who followed regular order by passing bill after bill that would have kept the government funded.  Unfortunately, the President refused to negotiate and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid refused to bring anything up for a vote.

Because the establishment on both sides didn't want to see what Senator Lee clearly could, the media was able to shift the focus away from the President and Harry Reid—who coldly refused to fund even the military, national parks and veterans benefits—and instead focused it on the false narrative of the shutdown while demonizing those who were shining a light on the real problems.

Even in Utah, the political elite and politically opportunistic were blinded, some by their own arrogance, and could see in the Obamacare-induced crisis only a chance to pounce on Mike Lee in an effort to silence his voice and position one of their own for 2016.

Show your support for Mike Lee by making your most generous contribution. We need his voice in the United States Senate.

Then October came and, when the shutdown ended, a bleary-eyed nation was hit between the eyes by the impact of Obamacare.  The website debacle was just the tip of the iceberg. Soon the real pain started to hit: millions upon millions of Americans were informed that they would be losing their health insurance, even though they had been repeatedly promised—by the President of the United States, no less—that if they liked their insurance plan, they could keep it.  Premiums skyrocketed, worker hours were cut, wages were slashed, and jobs were eliminated. And what we have seen so far is only the beginning.

Suddenly Democrats and Republicans alike have begun calling for the very same measures Senator Lee had advocated.  Now the President is desperately scrambling while continuing to rewrite the law by himself.  And worst of all, the American people are still being hurt.

Anyone who is willing to see now knows why Senator Lee was fighting so hard to stop the Obamacare train wreck.

I think Utahns and all Americans are fortunate to have a Senator who has the ability to see ahead and the courage to then declare what he saw – no matter what.

We need more people in Washington who are willing to see clearly the dangers on the horizon and then honestly tell the American people what is coming and what we need to do together to keep our country safe and strong.

Senator Lee needs your help to continue to fight for our future. Please make your most generous contribution – today!

Thank you so much, and may God bless America!
