  1. The first spaceplane pictured above is actually a very good rendition of an advanced Lifting Fuselage design first introduced by Texas born Vincent Burnelli. He produced 9, large versions from 1921 to 1944 and continued designing until his death in 1964. His last design, the GB-888 was compared to NASA's X-43B hypersonic plane by a NASA engineer. He used the word "Striking" for the similarities. Check out all his designs at http://burnelliaircraft.com/ . Way ahead of his time.
